GEARS Reporting Data

 Name of the Agent reporting on behalf of the Extractor if Extractor had an Agent

 Unique identifier GEARS applies to each plotted well

 The Assessor Parcel Number (APN) of each Place of Use (POU). Note that for reports submitting by Evapotranspiration (ET) data, POU is the parcel in which the ET was measured.

 The county name in which the POU resides

 The Federal Information Processing Standards (FIPS) code unique to each county and used to identify the county and standardize the APN formatting in that county.

 The technique used by the Extractor to measure groundwater extraction volume for a given report. For this dataset the only value is ET = Evapotranspiration. This dataset therefore contains only Extractors who reported using ET data

 The service or company from which the ET data was obtained. Ex can be from the OpenET open platform.

 The proportion of the extracted water that irrigates the crops in the POU. This is an integer number ranging from 0 to 1 with 1 meaning all extracted water irrigates the crops. This number is manually entered by the Extractor.

 The annual amount of surface water applied to the parcel of use in acre-feet/year (AFY). This number is manually entered by the Extractor.

 The name of the groundwater subbasin where the extractions are occurring. This name always starts with the groundwater basin followed by a hyphen and then the subbasin name (e.x. SAN JOAQUIN VALLEY – TULE).

 The unique number given to each groundwater subbasin in California. This number always starts with the hydrologic region number, followed by a hyphen and then the groundwater basin number, another hyphen, and finally the groundwater subbasin number (e.x. 5-022.13)

 The periods for which extractions were reported

 Groundwater extracted volume reported for the month of July, 2024. Note only reports for the Tulare Lake Partial 2024 water year reported for the months of July, August, and September, 2024. Reports for Tulare Lake Partial 2025 reported for the months of November, 2024 inclusively through to October, 2025. Repots for Tule Water Year 2025 reported for the months of January 2025, inclusively through to December, 2025. Blank cells for a given report and month signify that report did not include that month whereas 0’s signify a groundwater extraction volume of 0 AFY for that month for that report.

Boolean categorization where TRUE signifies the well pumps < 2 AFY and is used for only domestic purposes and FALSE signifies it does not meet those criteria

Is this well part of a Public Water System (PWS)? TRUE signifies well is part of a PWS and FALSE signifies not part of a PWS

Is this well part of a Groundwater Recoration Program? TRUE signifies yes, FALSE signifies no

Optional response for Extractor to enter the USGS site number for the well if the well is registered in the USGS monitoring network

Optional response for Extractor to enter the CASGEM Station ID  number for the well if the well is registered in the California Statewide Groundwater Elevation Monitoring (CASGEM) program 

Optional response for Extractor to enter for the well if the well has a known Well Completion Report filed with the California Department of Water Resources

The maximum gallons per minute of groundwater the well can pump

The year the Extractor began pumping the well. 

Is this well a replacement for another well? TRUE signifies yes whereas FALSE signifies no

If the column 'Replacement for another well' is TRUE, 'Year Pumping Began in Replaced Well' is the year that the extractor began pumping from the well that was replaced. If 'Replacement for another well' is FALSE, Extractor cannot enter a number in 'Year Pumping Began in Replaced Well'.

If the column 'Replacement for another well' is TRUE, 'Maximum Production of Replaced Well (gpm)' is the maximum gallons per minute of groundwater that the replaced well was able to pump.  If 'Replacement for another well' is FALSE, Extractor cannot enter a number in  'Maximum Production of Replaced Well (gpm).

The total depth in feet below ground surface to the current well

The depth to the top of screened interval in feet below ground surface for the current well

The depth to the bottom of screened interval in feet below ground surface for the current well

The casing diameter for the current well in inches

The full name supplied by that unique ContactID when making an account

The street component of the address supplied by that unique ContactID when making an account

The city component of the address supplied by that unique ContactID when making an account

The state component of the address supplied by that unique ContactID when making an account
